Dad Celebration!
I love the Antarctic. But what has this got to do with dads?
My admiration for this continent was ignited by a slide show when I was about seven years old. My mother worked for the South African Broadcasting Service and her boss accompanied a research team to Antarctica for the summer. Upon his return, we were invited to his slide and movie presentation. Fascination with this continent remain to this day.
Those Emperor Penguins photos and stories that were told became seared in my memory. The males incubate the eggs for around sixty to seventy days, during which they do not eat at all! Once junior hatches a dance with other fathers ensue. They move and rotate so that take by turns to tally on the frozen periphery.
Successful life depends on unconditional love and dedication of fathers! Today I honor you and the difference you make in the lives of everyone you impact.
